Cookies
This page explains the cookies and similar technologies our website uses, and how you can control them.
We only use analytics and advertising cookies if you click Accept on our cookie banner. Reject is just as easy, and the website works either way.
Change your cookie settings
You can change your choice at any time. Use this button, or the Cookie settings link in our website footer.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files that a website saves on your device. Websites can also save information in your browser's local storage or session storage. On this page, we call all of these "cookies".
Some cookies are strictly necessary, either for a website to work or to do something you've asked for. Others, such as analytics and advertising cookies, need your consent.
The cookies we use
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|---|
sl_consent | This website (local storage in your browser) | Remembers your cookie choice | Strictly necessary | Until you change it or clear your browser storage. We ask again after 12 months. |
sl_attribution | This website (session storage in your browser) | Remembers campaign information (UTM tags and Google click ID) for this visit, so it can be included with an enquiry | Analytics (only after you click Accept) | Until you close the tab |
_ga, and _ga_ followed by an ID | Google Analytics | Tells visitors and visits apart | Analytics (only after you click Accept) | Up to 2 years |
_gcl_au | Google Ads | Measures which adverts lead to enquiries | Marketing (only after you click Accept) | 90 days |
| Stripe cookies | Stripe, on checkout.stripe.com, only when you pay | Fraud prevention and payment | Strictly necessary for payment | Set by Stripe |
| Google Maps cookies | Google, only if you click Show map | Displays the map | Functional | Set by Google |
Strictly necessary
These don't need your consent.
sl_consent remembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics and marketing cookies, so we don't ask you on every page.
When you pay for a consultation, Stripe sets its own cookies on its checkout pages at checkout.stripe.com. They help Stripe prevent fraud and take your payment. Stripe's own cookie policy applies to them.
Analytics
These are only set if you click Accept.
Google Analytics helps us understand how people use our website, such as which pages they visit, so we can improve it.
sl_attribution keeps campaign information for your visit: utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, and the Google click ID (gclid). If you send an enquiry, this information goes with it, so we know which campaign brought you to us. It's deleted when you close the tab.
Marketing
This is only set if you click Accept.
The Google Ads cookie _gcl_au helps us measure whether our adverts lead to enquiries.
Google may also use information from its cookies for its own purposes. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Functional
Google Maps doesn't load on our contact section until you click Show map. When you do, Google may set cookies to display the map and for its own purposes. If you don't click Show map, no map content loads from Google.
The SRA badge
The SRA digital badge in our footer shows that we're regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. It's served by Yoshki (cdn.yoshki.com) on behalf of the SRA. When it loads, your browser connects to Yoshki's servers. We don't set any cookies through the badge.
When we checked in October 2026, the badge didn't set any cookies. It does load scripts from Yoshki and from Google's code library (ajax.googleapis.com), so those servers can see your IP address.
Changing or withdrawing your consent
Use the Cookie settings button on this page, or the link in our website footer, to change your choice at any time. If you withdraw your consent, we'll stop loading Google Analytics and Google Ads.
To remove any cookies that have already been set, clear your cookies in your browser settings.
We'll ask for your choice again after 12 months.
Blocking cookies in your browser
Most browsers let you see, block, and delete cookies. You'll usually find these options in your browser's settings, under Privacy or Privacy and security. Your browser's help pages explain how.
If you block all cookies, some websites may not work properly, including payment pages.
Clearing your browser storage also clears your cookie choice, so we'll ask you again next time you visit.
You can also stop Google Analytics collecting data on any website by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
