- You don't have a will yet, or your will is out of date after a marriage, divorce, new child, or new home.
- You have children under 18 and want to choose who would look after them.
- You'd like a will that follows Islamic inheritance rules, or that protects family members from a previous relationship.
How it works
Step 1: Tell us about your family and wishes
We meet by video, phone, or at our office to talk through your family, what you own, and what you'd like to happen.
Step 2: We draft your will
A solicitor drafts your will and explains it in plain terms, including executors, guardians for children, and any gifts.
Step 3: Sign it properly
We arrange the signing with two independent witnesses, so the will is valid. Mistakes at this stage are a common reason wills fail.
Step 4: Keep it safe
We explain where to keep your original will and make sure your executors will be able to find it.
Why a solicitor-drafted will
A will has to meet strict legal rules to be valid, and a poorly worded one can lead to disputes, delays, and unexpected tax. A solicitor makes sure your will says what you mean and is signed and witnessed properly.
Guardians for children
If you have children under 18, your will is where you name the person you'd want to look after them. Without it, the court may have to decide.

Frequently asked questions
What happens if I die without a will?
The intestacy rules decide who inherits, which may not be what you'd want. Unmarried partners, stepchildren, and friends get nothing under the rules, and no guardian is named for your children.
Can you write an Islamic will?
Yes. We can draft a will that follows Islamic inheritance principles while being valid under the law of England and Wales.
What are mirror wills?
Two separate wills for a couple, usually leaving everything to each other and then to the same people, such as your children.
When should I update my will?
After marriage (which usually cancels an existing will), divorce, having children, buying a property, or if someone named in it dies. It's worth reviewing every few years.
Who should be my executor?
Someone you trust to deal with your affairs, such as a family member or friend. You can name more than one, and you can name a firm of solicitors.
